In this edition, Boomer aids a family on a wilderness trip in terms of survival lessons, especially after a boating accident and an encounter with a bear. This edition stars (besides Johnny in the title role) Scott Baio (on a break from Happy Days), Moosie Drier, Tracey Gold (years before Growing Pains), with special guest star Charles Siebert (then of Trapper John, M.D.), and co-starring Frank Welker (most famous as the voice of Freddy on many a Scooby-Doo series since the 1969 launch of the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!) and Rance Howard (father of both Ron and Clint Howard).
