Exploring the Power of AI in Healthcare: Microsoft Copilot and My Heart Procedure
In this video, I explore a potential use case for generative AI in the health industry by using Microsoft Copilot to answer questions about a complex heart procedure I recently underwent to ablate my heart of premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). Over the past four years, I've faced significant medical challenges, including living with an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD), a pacemaker, and now undergoing this ablation procedure. I wanted to see if Copilot could assist me as a patient by providing answers to some of my pressing questions about the procedure.
Throughout the video, I share my journey with various medical technologies and my latest experience with the ablation procedure. I used Microsoft's Copilot to help interpret my discharge notes, gain a better understanding of the procedure, and explore the drugs and technology involved. This showcases how generative AI could be used to support patients in understanding their medical treatments.
While it's important to emphasize that AI tools like Copilot should not replace professional medical advice, this video considers the future potential of generative AI in healthcare. Imagine specialist Copilots designed to assist individuals based on their discharge needs, using trusted materials compiled by medical professionals. Such tools could empower patients to get answers to questions they might have forgotten to ask and help doctors quickly understand a patient’s complex history before a consultation.
