👗 Master Digital Pattern Making in Adobe Illustrator! 👗
🔍 Part 43: Creating labels
To create a label, using the Type tool, click and drag to create a text box and start typing.
Add the pattern name, the panel name, and the cut instructions.
Customise the text using the control menu. Select font style, size, alignment and more.
Click the character menu for more complicated font options. Copy and paste in a logo, resize it and move into position.
Add a grainline using the line tool. Hold down shift whilst drawing to lock it to the vertical. Add an arrowhead via the stroke tool, then right click, transform, reflect, horizontal and copy.
Drag it below the text. Finally, select the logo, text and grainlines using the selection tool. Click horizontal align centre to align them neatly.
Finally, select all the elements and click object group. You can now use your label as a template, copy, paste and move it to each panel. Don’t forget to change the text details though!
