A major part of streaming is interacting with chat. For a seamless chat experience it is best to have no stream delay, or as little stream delay as possible. There are two settings that you will need to change for so your stream will be in low latency mode.
First you want to ensure your Twitch channel is set to low latency mode. The low latency streaming method should be enabled by default, however it is best to check. You can find the latency setting on the channel settings page of Twitch.
The second setting needs to be changed on your live streaming software. Typically OBS or Streamlabs OBS is used when streaming to Twitch. The output stream settings in OBS allows you to choose a CPU preset. To keep the processing speed as low as possible, the CPU usage preset should be set to one of the fast settings. The setting may also be called low latency or low latency quality. The purpose of changing the OBS setting is to have the stream encoded as fast as possible, to minimize delay.
