Blender 2.8 Alpha Background Images Workflow
The way to add and customize background images has changed in Blender 2.8. The old system had various internal issues so the developers decided that in Blender 2.8 background images should be set up using empties. For that the way to view and align empties as images has been improved as well.
For the camera background image the old system is retained but in Blender 2.8 the settings have been moved to the camera properties.
