In this video, I'm going to show you how to use OBS Studio. In this OBS Studio tutorial for beginner's, I'll cover the basic steps of getting your streaming or recording up within just a few minutes.
First, download the OBS Studio software from their website. Search the terms OBS Studio and you'll find it in the top results.
When you've opened the software and are looking at the canvas. You'll want to create a new Scene in the bottom left corner.
After your scene is created, you'll be adding sources to that scene that will be captured when you have that scene selected. In the sources section, click the plus button and begin adding your sources to OBS Studio.
The few sources I cover are display capture, video input capture, and audio input capture.
In the sources, click on display capture and make sure your proper display is being captured. Next, select audio input capture and make sure you have the correct microphone selected as the input device. Next select the video input capture device and select the webcam you'll be using to capture video if you need it.
Make sure the order of sources have the webcam displayed above the display or game capture. In the audio mixer section, you'll be able to modify the audio levels of your desktop or game audio and your microphone audio.
Now we go into the settings. In the settings of OBS Studio, click on Stream, and link whatever streaming platform you'll be using.
Then click on the Output settings and change your video bitrate depending on how your upload speeds are. I recommend keeping it at 4000 kbps or 6000 kbps. Make sure your encoder is set to Hardware (NVENC) so the GPU will be handling the load of the stream. For the recording settings, specify the file destination, and set the recording quality to Indistinguishable Quality, Large File Size. For your recording format, I recommend changing it to MP4 because MKV isn't supported everywhere.
In the Video settings, make sure the resolution is the size of your screen along with the output. For downscale filter, change it to Lanczos (sharpened scaling, 36 samples). Then change your FPS to 60 if your device can manage 60 FPS. If not, then keep it selected at 30 FPS.
Once you have all of those settings finished, now you're ready to stream or record on OBS Studio.
