The '60s Chevrolet Corvair gets a modern digital update with some of the best design cues from some of Chevy's most iconic sports cars.
When Chevrolet launched the Corvair in 1960, it did so with many firsts. In fact, the Corvair beat the Corvette by being the first American post-war car to have independent front and rear suspension. That said, its rear-mounted engine earned it a questionable place in consumer advocate Ralph Nader’s famous book, “Unsafe at Any Speed.” This newfound notoriety combined with spiraling sales finally led General Motors to withdraw the Corvair in 1969 and retire the nameplate.
While the ‘60s Corvair had the typical metal and chrome flair of its time, HotCars digital artist Rostislav Prokop has a very different idea for a modern rendition. His Chevrolet Corvair digital concept looks more like a Corvette with some cues from the modern Camaro or vice versa. If Chevy ever decided to bring back the classic car as a new model, this could be an interesting design idea, although it may just eat into Corvette sales.
