i’ve been obsessed with the music of michael nyman, and especially this piece, for quite a long time. i love how it unfolds & expands out of nothing, with the same plodding ground bass throughout. nyman breathes fresh life into musical ideas from the 17th century opera ‘king arthur’ by henry purcell.
time lapse in its original arrangement is something q incredible & unique - its unusual combination of instruments gives it a very raw, harsh power in my view - here’s a great video: • Michael Nyman - Time Lapse
anyways, i hope you enjoy this organ arrangement, where i tried to replicate the piece’s gradual build-up of drama :)
