this one is for my granny, who requested 'something by bach'.
i left this one til the very end because this piece means more to me than i could possibly explain in words. i don't know how you talk about a piece of music which is so raw and beautiful that it's as though all human constructs have been stripped away & it's just harsh, blistering emotion in its purest form. it's fruitless to try describe in words - it epitomises the whole thing of music being able to plumb depths of feeling which language will never be able to. to me it sounds like the infinite, the unfathomable, has been condensed into audible form. i could never do justice to this piece - i'll never be as technically adept a pianist, & i'm miles away from being as mature a musician, as i would need to be. but here is me trying the best i can at this stage of my life, at a piece which, to me, is everything.
legend goes that johann sebastian bach wrote this piece as a catacomb to his late wife, which figures. it contains a universe of love and despair.
i don't expect anyone to want to watch 15 whole minutes of this, but if you're interested, listen to a little & glimpse the ineffable. in my eyes, this music says all there is to say.
