The Aeonium tabuliforme - is a striking succulent that forms a large, flat, perfectly round rosette, that make it look like a "living plate," hence the name "tabuliforme," - which means "table-shaped." Now… that is a polite way to name the plant, because… for me, it obviously resembles a human boob more than anything else.
It is native to a Spanish archipelago called the Canary Islands - specifically on the island of Tenerife - where it enjoys the mild mediterranean climate. The Aeonium tabuliforme is well adapted to the rocky cliffs and steep slopes of this region.
Being monocarpic, this plant invests all its energy into a dramatic flowering event before it dies off completely. Thankfully, it often produces small offsets around the base before flowering, ensuring that the plant's life cycle continues.
