The civil war in Sudan continues, and now Reuters is reporting that the United Nations (UN) is investigating two employees at its World Food Programme (WFP).
The investigation includes how 200,000 litres of fuel has gone missing and for allegedly concealing how the Sudanese army — a faction in the civil war — prevents aid from reaching areas controlled by its enemy.
“You're looking at a situation where there's been ethnic and targeted killing. You've got a situation where women are no longer able to breastfeed their newborn babies the second that they're born,” said Matthew Benson, the research director of the Sudan programme at the London School of Economics (LSE).
Global’s Nathaniel Dove has more on a war that the world has largely missed.
