Senior Broadcast Journalist
Senior Broadcast Journalists (SBJs) work may have graduated from Broadcast Journalist roles and may be aspiring Assistant Editors or Editors. SBJs at the BBC can work across platforms; radio, TV, online or On Demand.
As well as excellent journalistic skills and the ability to lead and manage a team, people in this role will often be responsible for setting the news agenda. They will have an eye for a strong story and be able to present the most appropriate angle for their audience. SBJs need to be able to work to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy, impartiality and editorial judgement.
With varying roles across the BBC, SBJs could be reporting for Radio 1 Newsbeat, writing the headlines for the BBC News Channel or editing news bulletins for a local radio station
