Following his win, Muhammad didn't hold back in addressing those who doubted him, particularly targeting Alexander Volkanovski. During an appearance on the Anik & Florian Podcast, Muhammad expressed frustration with critics who underestimated him, including Volkanovski, who had previously commented that he viewed Muhammad as a favorable matchup.
"All these guys were hating," Muhammad said. "Volkanovski was talking about how I’d be a good matchup for him. I’ll smack the hell out of you. There’s nobody in the UFC that will beat me. I look at all these opponents, they keep putting me as the underdog, and I’m going to keep dominating."
Volkanovski had joked about stepping in for the UFC 304 main event if needed, mentioning that he thought he had a better chance against Muhammad than Edwards. After the fight, Volkanovski responded to Muhammad's comments, challenging him to back up his words in person.
Muhammad, confident in his abilities, was undeterred by Volkanovski's retort and doubled down on his stance. While the two fighters are in different weight classes and unlikely to meet in the octagon, the exchange highlights the tension between them.
