Red Sea Attack: Yemen's Houthis Strike Blue Lagoon Tanker, US Says Saudi-Flagged Vessel Also Hit
Iran-backed Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack on the Blue Lagoon crude oil tanker in the Red Sea. But the US military said the Yemeni military group also attacked a Saudi-flagged tanker, Amjad, along with the Panama-flagged Blue Lagoon. US said the Houthis hit the tankers with two ballistic missiles, and condemned the strikes as 'reckless acts of terrorism.' The attacks are believed to be the latest in the Iran-backed campaign to disrupt the 1-trillion-dollar trade route, in support of Palestine over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza.
