Three billion people worldwide use social media. I started to notice how often I just get stuck in the feed when I'm bored or trying to figure out what to post when I’m not inspired. Of course, this is not only entertainment, but also my job. But all the same, it confused me and I wanted to take a break not only from the constant creation of content, but also its consumption. During this time, I found 3 main reasons why social media evokes so many mixed feelings.

Reason # 1. Digital Addiction, Anxiety and Waste of Time.
The desire to constantly check mail, instant messengers, flip through the feed in anticipation of new posts and stories, grab the phone during meetings and communicate with loved ones ... Researchers and psychologists call all this obsessive behavior.

Reason # 2: SELF-ASSESSMENT and Perception problem.
Social media often evokes negative emotions in us, especially frustration and envy. This is due to a distorted perception of your body, skills and achievements in comparison with other people.

And the last reason number 3. Avoid negative emotions in search of quick gratification.
We don't like to feel bad. We don't like boredom, sadness, fear, frustration, and other emotions that we call negative. Therefore, many do their best to avoid them.

To summarize my experiment
⁃ My productivity has grown tremendously. The main thing here is to have a plan for the day and know what to do with yourself when you need to take a break. When I was tired, instead of sticking to the insta, I went for a walk, cooked, did household chores, went in for sports. ⠀
⁃ I read 70% of the book by reading in the morning instead of flipping through the tape. I usually read 1 book a month at best. ⠀
⁃ Social media is a quick way to avoid emotions we don't like on the one hand and quickly get dopamine on the other. Any detoxification reveals our emotional state well and helps us to realize what is worth working with.
