In this episode we had another open chat exploration on the topic of z-buffers, and ways one might approach depth of field in Natron. While Natron has the community plugin zDefocus, which was designed to work with a Blender non clamped z-buffer (exr) file, we have a situation where a clamped z-buffer (png) was made using Mandelbulb, and it is causing issues. So first we are going to build our own solution for this type of z-buffer (which will also work for using , and then we are going to play around and see if we might be able to get it to work with zDefocus.

0:50:55 - Not working as expected, time to wrap things up
0:52:03 - My recommendation use EXR if using zDefocus
0:52:53 - Or use the DoF we built earlier for a PNG z-buffer
0:53:26 - No perfect solution for all types of z-buffers, because it's not standardized
0:54:41 - Thanks for watching and outro
