In this episode we are first going to finish up the glow fade that was skipped at the end of the last episode, and continue on from there to explore tracking eye effects and why if the eye effect is a simple one I think rotoscopes are potentially a better opinion; however, there are times when a simple roto won't be enough and then tracking becomes an aid, but it also can present new issues. We are not going to focus heavily on the issues, but the basics of how one builds a simple eye tracking solution for more complex eye effects.

Contents:
0:00:00 - Intro
0:00:17 - Preamble
0:01:31 - Fixing the blinks (last episode:    • VFX with Natron - E0086 - Eye Effects...  )

0:07:05 - A roto node for our eventual eye shape
0:07:40 - Quickly tracking an eye in Natron (Note: Not a clean track for speed reasons)
0:15:32 - A quick zoomed in tracker (Note: Not a clean track for speed reasons)
0:16:40 - Roto trace the zoomed out eye(s)
0:18:07 - Setting up the zoomed out Match-Move
0:24:14 - Animating the Roto
0:28:25 - Why tracking isn't "better," but different (Note: And it ultimately uses more nodes)
0:32:08 - The Tracker "POP" issue
0:36:04 - Explaining how the "POP" could effect motion blur (We lucked out in this)
0:38:00 - Setting up the zoomed in stuff
0:41:00 - Switching
0:41:28 - Glow & Evaluate
0:45:44 - The same eye glow as last episode, but with more nodes, issues & is not really faster
0:46:36 - Q: So when is tracking better? A: when it's not just a simple roto shape
0:48:28 - Void Eyes (holes) are a simple shape, lets make them
0:49:50 - Feather fall off issues (skippable trouble shooting)
0:57:01 - Feather issues solved (I prefer blur)
0:57:40 - Solid Pupil Eyes, which are very similar to void eyes, are not a simple shape
0:58:42 - Lets make Solid Pupil Eyes
1:05:47 - A Natron merge node advantage
1:08:00 - The NOT A problem (skippable)
1:09:00 - Evaluating and fixing the Pupil Eye roto (Note: Tracker cleanup would also be required)
1:16:48 - Fixing the colors and roto animation for realism
1:19:20 - Adding iris/cornea falloff
1:24:25 - Final Pupil Eye evaluation
1:27:17 - Today's first goal result
1:28:58 - Today's second goal result (Note: Fixing would also have required tracker cleanup)
1:29:46 - Thanks for watching and outro
