A brief video showcases the startup of a 10cc homemade model gas engine, constructed from aluminum and bronze sand castings. The parts were machined using a South Bend lathe and a Sherline lathe for the smaller components. Drawings and instructions for this engine were published in a 1946 issue of Popular Mechanics magazine, and Coles Power Models offered casting kits until 2006, when the company was sold and relocated to Texas. The engine features a 1-inch bore and a 3/4-inch stroke, with the piston operating within a cast iron sleeve encased in an aluminum cylinder. Spark ignition is achieved through a WilCo model airplane coil, two D cell batteries, and a points set from a 1977 GM V-8. It operates efficiently on regular gasoline or Coleman's camp fuel. Additionally, Coles marketed a standalone single needle float valve carburetor kit, which included aluminum and bronze castings, a throttle valve, and a choke.
