Religion at the center of rise in hate crimes across New York says new report
In 2023, there were 1,089 reported hate crimes across the state of New York according to an August 2024 report from the State Comptroller's Office.
It marked the highest number of reported hate crimes since data collection and reporting were mandated in New York in 2000.
