Dhaba Style Dal Chana Written Recipe With Directions:
Ingredients:
Split Bengal gram (Chana daal) 250 g soaked in water for half an hour
-Red chili (lal mirch) powder ½ tsp
-Salt (namak) 1 tsp
-Water (pani) 1 liter
-Cooking oil
-Ginger garlic lehsan adrak) paste 1 tbs
-Onion (piyza) 2 small size or 1 big size
-Tomato (tamatar) 3 small size or 1 big size
-Green chili (hari mirch) 5
-Water (pani) 1 cup
-Dried coriander (khushk dhania) powder 1 tsp
-Salt (namak) ¼ tsp
-Turmeric (haldi) powder ¼ tsp
-Cumin seeds (zeera) 1 tsp
-Red chili (lal mirch) powder ½ tsp
-Karahi gosht masala ½ tsp
-Ground mixed spices (garam masala) ½ tsp
-Black pepper (kali mirch) powder ¼ tsp
-Chicken powder ½ tsp
Directions:
-In a Pressure cooker, add split Bengal gram, red chili powder, salt, water, and a few drops of cooking oil. Cover and cook it for 6 minutes (pressure time).
-In a grinder, add onion, tomato, green chili, and water. Grind well, make a paste, and set aside.
-In another pan, add 1 cup of cooking oil and heat it.
-Add ginger garlic paste. Mix well and cook on low flame.
-Now add the prepared paste and cook it on medium flame.
-Add dried coriander powder, salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook.
-Add boiled split Bengal gram.
-Now, add Karahi gosht masala, ground mixed spices, black pepper powder, and chicken powder. Mix well, cover, and simmer it on low (dum) flame.
-Dish out, garnish with green chilies and fresh coriander.
-Serve and enjoy it with roti or nan.
Tips and Tricks:
-If you are not using a pressure cooker, boil the split Bengal gram on low flame.
After boiling the split Bengal gram, you can store it in small packs by freezing it in the refrigerator.
