Was passiert, wenn wir einen geliebten Menschen verlieren? Joan Didion publizierte 2005 ihr Buch Das Jahr des magischen Denkens, in dem sie mit dem Tod ihres Mannes ringt. In diesem Stelldichein! gibt es Umschläge mit Textauszügen dieses Buches. Die drei Künstler:innen öffnen diese in der Reihenfolge, die das Publikum zufällig vorgibt. Dann wird improvisiert: gelesen, gesungen, gespielt und keiner weiß, was noch. Angelehnt ist diese Konzertimprovisation an die Ja, Mai Produktion Il ritorno / Das Jahr des magischen Denkens. Didions Buch wird Teil der Inszenierung von Claudio Monteverdis Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria.

What happens when we lose a loved one? Joan Didion published her book The Year of Magical Thinking in 2005, in which she struggles with the death of her husband. In this Stelldichein! there are envelopes with text extracts from this book. The three artists open them in the order that the audience randomly decides. Then they improvise: read, sang, played and nobody knows what else. This concert improvisation is based on the Ja, Mai production Il ritorno / The Year of Magical Thinking. Didion's book becomes part of the production of Claudio Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria.
