OBSERVATIONS: HANJO - Behind the scenes of Ja, Mai-Festival
Das Warten hat ein Ende. Oder hat es eben erst begonnen? Hört es womöglich nie auf? In der Oper "Hanjo" von Toshio Hosokawa nach einem Nō-Theaterstück von Yukio Mishima, sind das zentrale Fragen. Choreograf und Regisseur Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui beleuchtet diese Topoi in seiner Inszenierung. Im Museums-Raum treffen bei ihm verschiedene Zeitformen aufeinander: die gedehnte Zeit der Oper, die geraffte Zeit des Tanzes und die stillstehende Zeit von bildender Kunst. The wait is over. Or has it just begun? Will it possibly never end? In the opera "Hanjo" by Toshio Hosokawa, based on a Nō play by Yukio Mishima, these are central questions. Choreographer and director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui illuminates these topoi in his production. In the museum space, he brings together different forms of time: the stretched time of opera, the condensed time of dance and the still time of visual art.
