Breakneck Ridge is one of the most popular hikes in the Hudson Highlands, just north of New York City. Today we’re taking the long loop, where we’ll show you all the cool viewpoints and the Mount Beacon Fire Tower, plus we brought our cute Yorkie Zeus, and who doesn't want to bring their dog with them on a hike? Located in Hudson Highlands State Park, the trailhead to this amazing hike is located along the Hudson River and Route 9D in the town of Cold Spring, New York. You can either drive or take the Metro North to the trailhead with limited service on the weekends to the Breakneck Station. Otherwise, tag along as we show you this roughly 9 mile, 2800 feet elevation gain beauty of a hike. It is especially beautiful during the fall, but timing the colors is definitely not easy. Also, try to go during the week if you can and be ready to rock scramble!
