The first cause of high CPU usage is startup apps. The reason is because startup apps often continue running in the background well after you have logged into your computer.
The more startups you have, the longer it will for take your computer to startup after logging in. What is more, since some of those apps continue to run in the background, this increases overall CPU usage even after the startup.
To fix this problem, open the Task Manager and disable the startup apps you don't need., especially the ones that Windows label as "High Impact."
The second cause of high CPU usage is resource intensive apps. Some apps like gaming, video eting, 3D modeling use a lot of GPU and CPU resources. To fix this, avoid playing your game in ultra settings. Rather, play your game in high or medium settings. In many cases, playing medium settings still provide a great gaming experience while substantially reducing the amount of load on the CPU.
You may also consider buying a computer that allows you to run such apps. The more powerful your CPU, the more it will be able to run resource-intensive apps without having to run at peak cpacity.
The third cause of high CPU usage is buggy apps or malware. In such cases, you can try resetting your PC. If you have malware, resetting your PC will usually fix the problem (especially if you choose to remove all files). If the malware has spread to the recovery partition, you may have to format the drives completely.
