Version control with Git, using Azure DevOps for Unreal Engine 5 projects
In this video, we will set up Microsoft's Azure DevOps as an alternative to GitHub for our Git-based version control setup that we want to use to collaborate on an Unreal Engine project. Contrary to other cloud providers, Azure DevOps has a very generous storage policy and offers unlimited storage for binary files (via Git LFS) at no additional cost.
Azure DevOps is part of the whole Microsoft Azure ecosystem, which also offers other things such as cloud builds or gaming services. To use Azure DevOps, you will need a Microsoft account e.g. a Windows account.
We will be using Anchorpoint to push and pull files to and from Azure DevOps, but you can also use other Git clients. We will also talk about the Unreal Engine integration with Anchorpoint and how a team member will join your project.
About Anchorpoint
Anchorpoint is a Git-based version control solution for artists that is compatible with any Git provider such as GitHub, GitLab or Azure DevOps, has file locking and is very easy to use. It is a paid service but has a free option.
