Production of the updated 2022 Kia Ceed at the main plant in Slovakia will begin in August. In Europe, the start of sales is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021.
The Kia Ceed Facelift 2022 is a redesigned front end.
New radiator grilles and bumper (its black side sections are now bridged to the wheel arches). LED headlights are installed as standard: they have the same housings, but the filling is different, and three vertical sections instead of the previous four LEDs are responsible for the running lights and turn signals. New wheel designs (16 to 18 inches in diameter). New body colors - Experience Green, Yucca Steel Grey, Machined Bronze, and Lemon Splash.
Kia Ceed GT-Line and Kia Ceed GT cars have more individual features (linings on bumpers and sills). And the hatchbacks Kia Ceed GT-Line and Kia Ceed GT received original taillights with a matrix structure: each one has 48 light cells that work flexibly in the modes of side lights, brake lights or turn signals.
There is a minimum of changes inside. New graphics for virtual instruments (they rely on expensive versions) and media system, which, as before, can have a screen diagonal of 8.0 or 10.25 inches. The choice of trim options has been expanded: now there are nine instead of five.
The engine lineup includes the usual suspects, kicking off with a turbocharged 1.0-liter, three-cylinder gasoline engine producing 120 horsepower. It comes with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission (featuring a coasting function) and benefits from a 48V mild-hybrid setup to cut fuel consumption and emissions. The same three-pot is available in a 100-hp bi-fuel version by accepting LPG, while a 1.6-liter diesel boasts a 136-hp output and it too has a mild-hybrid configuration.
Available with the wagon, the plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 1.6-liter GDI (gasoline direct injection) engine with a 44.5-kilowatt electric motor, an 8.9-kWh lithium-polymer battery pack, and a six-speed, dual-clutch automatic. The PHEV estate offers a combined output of 141 hp and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. In EV mode, it has enough battery juice for 36 miles (58 kilometers).
Those in need of more punch will have to step up to the 1.5-liter gasoline mill with 160 hp or the slightly larger 1.6-liter reserved for the GT models where it pumps out 204 hp and is linked exclusively to the seven-speed DCT.
