The compact crossover Geely Coolray, created on the BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture) "trolley" , reached Russia last year, and in the Celestial Empire the model has been available since 2018, where it is called Binyue("Binyu"). The SUV turned out to be successful. Yes, in the quarantine 2020, sales at home dipped by 8% to 126,145 units (hereinafter, CarSalesBase statistics), but this year the demand is recovering: from January to June, Geely Binyue sold 67,818 copies across the PRC (+43 %). The new version is designed to attract more customers. In general, some Chinese specialized media write that this is a restyling, but in Geely social networks such a cross is designated as a "fashion series", that is, it is possible that this performance will add to the range. Well, or is it really an updated "sports" version, which has a Pro prefix at home.
So, the SUV has acquired a more aggressive front bumper, the lower grille has become larger, the top now has a mesh instead of "circles", the turn signals are now "animated". In addition, a gray X-shaped insert appeared in the front, a wide strip can be on the hood (optional), and a new large spoiler was installed on the tailgate. The model also got 18-inch wheels of a new design, and the old Binyue Pro also has red brake calipers. It is not yet known whether such a body kit affected the length of the crossover. For the current Geely Binyue, this figure is 4330 mm (regardless of the version), the wheelbase is 2600 mm.
The interior was made black and gold (although there will be versions with a different finish), the seats are upholstered in "leather" and Alcantara, plus the box selector has been replaced, and the multimedia system screen is now 12.3 inches (the previous cross has an 8-inch tablet , expensive versions have a 10.25-inch touchscreen). The rest of the interior has not changed.
Geely has not yet talked about the technology, but its reforms are unlikely to have affected. The current Binyue Pro is equipped with a 1.5 (177 hp) petrol "turbo-triple" developed with Volvo (the Swedish company belongs to the Chinese), this engine is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. The base SUV has a "turbo four" 1.4 (141 hp), which is combined with a six-speed "mechanics" or 6DCT. At home, the cross also comes in the form of a "soft" hybrid with a 48-volt attachment, the model also has a full-fledged rechargeable version of the PHEV (hybrids - with a 1.5T engine). The drive is only front.
