Are you working on a workbook which will be sent over to other users, but do not want to have specific cells from being edited by them? Excel has special feature to solve this problem about cell protection.

Welcome to Excel in a Minute!
Suppose you have a workbook that will be sent over to other people, and you want to protect some cells from being edited to preserve your work. But how will you do it in Excel?
In this lesson, you will learn how to lock cells.
By default, all cells are locked. However, locking these cells will have no effect unless you protect the worksheet.
So, let’s protect the worksheet first by right-clicking the sheet tab. Then, click protect sheet.
Now that the worksheet is protected, we are now certain that all cells are locked by default.
Let’s have an example to help you understand how locking certain cells will benefit you.
