Just Another Day In the Office
My view right now as I work on finishing Wildscapes. I'm also working on giving myself grace.
I have learned so much and yet little Miss Perfectionist still comes out and taps me on the shoulder and says you messed up here. Remember when you did this and you had to do it over again? Remember how it took you 11 tries to figure out how to fix it? Remember how you had to keep changing background fabric and needles and threads because you didn't get it right the first or second time?
And I remind her, I am new at this.
I've only been doing this for a few years. I'm not working from a pattern or class. I'm figuring it out as I go and I'm bound to make mistakes along the way. Each of those mistakes will teach me what I want to do differently the next time. So they're not really mistakes are they? They're lessons. And I am grateful.
I still have visions in my head of how I want the final pieces to look. And I get closer with each one. I may never reach exactly what's in my mind, but I know I'll get better with every stitch, with every Wildscape I bring to life.
And I know that working organically, following wherever the threads may lead, is what makes me happy.
And I know that joy can be felt every time someone holds a Wildscape in their hands.
