Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897): Why is the light given
via-nova-chor Munich
Conductor: Kerstin Behnke
The work "Warum ist das Licht gegeben" was part of the programme of Kerstin Behnke's inaugural concert as choral professor at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar (HfM).
The via-nova-chor München has been under the direction of Kerstin Behnke since 2017. It was founded by Kurt Suttner in Munich in 1972. The choir is particularly committed to contemporary choral music, without neglecting the musical tradition. It offers composers a forum for the performance of new choral works, as evidenced by the impressive number of 70 world premieres.
In her inaugural concert, choral conducting professor Kerstin Behnke presented herself not only with her via-nova-chor München, but also with the two ensembles for which she is responsible at the HfM: the 60-member university choir made up of students from the HfM and Bauhaus University, and the ensemble: der HfM with 16 members.
The concert is part of the series "Virtuoso Weimar - Teachers in Concert".
