Hey guys, welcome back to NGB 2.0 and in this video I want to show you how to add rounded corners to images in GIMP. Now to demonstrate this I've already imported this image in the GIMP editor and the first thing that we are going to do is we will add a horizontal and a vertical guide. So to do that go to the 'Image' menu and now go to 'Guides' and now select 'New Guide'.

Now look inside the 'New Guide' dialog box. Inside 'Direction', 'Horizontal' is selected so that's fine and inside 'Position' the value is 50% so that's fine as well. Now click on the 'OK' button.

Next you need to go to the 'Image' menu once again and now go to 'Guides' and select 'New Guide'. This time change the direction from 'Horizontal' to 'Vertical' and click on the 'OK' button. Next what you need to do is you need to select the 'Rectangle Select Tool' and now look inside the 'Rectangle Select' settings.

Right here you need to first enable this option that is 'Expand from center' and then you need to enable this option that is 'Rounded corners'. Now create a rectangular selection with rounded corners like this. Now you can adjust the roundness by increasing or decreasing the value inside this 'Radius' option.

So if you increase the value inside the 'Radius' option the selection is going to become more rounded and if you decrease the value inside the 'Radius' option the selection will become more and more like a rectangle. So let me set the value inside the 'Radius' option to somewhere around let's say 300. All right.

Next what you need to do is you need to go to the 'Select' menu and now select this option that is 'Invert'. Now right click on top of the Image layer and select this option that is 'Add Alpha Channel' and now you need to press the 'delete' button. Perfect.

Next go to the 'Select' menu once again and now select this option that is 'None'. Now I would like to remove the guides as I don't need them anymore. So go to the 'Image' menu, go to 'Guides' and select this option that is 'Remove all Guides'.

Next what you need to do is you need to create a new transparent layer. So click on this option which says 'Create a new layer and add it to the image' and let the 'Layer name' be 'Layer' and inside 'Fill with', 'Transparency' is already selected. So that's fine.

This is exactly what I need. Now click on the 'OK' button. Now move this transparent layer below like this.

And what we are going to do is we will apply the white color on top of this transparent layer. So white is already selected in my Background color. So let me directly drag and drop it on top of the transparent layer like this.

Perfect. And that's it. This is how you can add rounded corners to images in GIMP.

Do let me know your thoughts in comment section below. Like the video and subscribe to my YouTube channel. I will again see you in the next video.

Till then thanks for watching.
