Hey guys, welcome back to NGB 2.0 and in this video, I want to show you how you can create this crumpled paper effect in GIMP. Now it's actually super easy to create this crumpled paper effect in the GIMP editor. So without further delay, let's get started and see how you can do this. Now to demonstrate this, I've already imported two different images in the GIMP editor. So this is my main image and this is an image of a crumpled paper and to create this effect, you will require this image of crumpled paper.

And so I've given the link in the description box below of this particular image. You can download this image for free from pixabay.com and once you download it and import it in the editor, go to the 'Edit' menu and then select 'Copy'. Now go to your main image and go to 'Edit' once again, go to 'Paste as' and then select 'New Layer'.

Next, what you need to do is you need to rotate this image. So to do that, go to the 'Layer' menu and inside 'Layer', go to 'Transform' and then select this option that is 'Rotate 90 degree clockwise'. Now what you need to do next is you need to change the 'Mode' from 'Normal' to 'Multiply'. So currently the 'Mode' is set to 'Normal'. So change it to 'Multiply'. And what we are going to do next is we will decrease the saturation of this image a little bit.

So to do that, go to the 'Colors' menu and inside 'Colors', select the 'Saturation' option. Now look inside the 'Saturation' dialog and right here, you're going to find this option called 'Scale', where currently the value is 1.000. So decrease the value inside the 'Scale' option from 1.000 to somewhere around, let's say 0.512.

And now simply click on the 'OK' button. Next, what you need to do is you need to merge this layer with the layer below it. So to do that, simply click on this option, which says 'Merge this layer with the first visible layer below it'. And now what we are going to do next is we will brighten this image a little bit. So to do that, go to the 'Colors' menu once again, and now select this option that is 'Levels'.

Now, inside the 'Levels' dialog, look inside the 'Input Levels' section. And right here, you're going to find this small triangle. And inside 'Clamp input', currently the value is 1.00. So move this triangle towards the left side and increase the value inside the clamp input from 1.00 to somewhere around, let's say 1.26.

Perfect. Now simply click on the 'OK' button. All right, we're almost done. One final thing which you need to do is you need to sharpen this image. So to do that, go to the 'Filters' menu, go to 'Enhance', and inside 'Enhance', you will find this 'Sharpen' option. So simply click on it. And don't make any changes inside any of these options inside the 'Sharpen' dialog.

Simply click on the 'OK' button. And that's it. This is how you can create a crumpled paper effect in GIMP. Do let me know your thoughts in the comments section below. Like the video and subscribe to my YouTube channel. I will again see you in the next video. Till then, thanks for watching.
