Change Machine Type of VM in GCP
GCP provides multiple resource configuration for VM on basis of general-purpose, memory & CPU optimized workloads. We had seen a list of available options as well. There may be a situation when you want to change the machine type after creation. This is very much possible without reinstallation on a single reboot of VM instance.
To change the machine type, you need to browse instance properties in Google Cloud Console Compute Engine VM Instances. In VM Instances, you need to locate or search VM instance for which you want to change the machine type.
Add or Modify Disk
The addition of additional disk or modifying existing disk is a very regular practice and requirements. In GCP, You can do it on the fly and do not need any downtime.
Once a new disk is assigned to OS or capacity increased for existing disk, You need to act as guest OS to make them visible for application or used using a particular VM.
