Create VM in GCP
We have discussed the Compute Engine and Virtual Machine concepts in GCP in detail. Now, We will create a virtual machine in GCP using GCP web console and explore all option during creation like:-

Selection of OS Image Public or Customized
Enable Shielded VM
Add Additional Disk other than the Boot disk

Steps to Create VM using GCP Console
Login to Google Cloud Console and browse to the Compute Engine VM instances page.
Select the project under which you want to create VM instance.
Click Create instance.
Specify a Name for your instance.
Change the Zone for this instance. Compute Engine picks up the zone itself and if you found it irrelevant, you can change it to the required one.
Select a Machine configuration for your instance.
In the Boot disk section, You need to select the OS Image. GCP provides you the option of Google Provided / Public images and custom images. You can use any option based on your need. GCP automatically selects the public OS Image for your machine. You can click Change to configure your boot disk to change the selected public OS Image or Chose for Customer Image.
Chose Public / Google Provided OS image:
Once you click on Change, You see Public Image Tab.
Select the Operating System and Version
Configure Size of Boot Disk
Choose Custom Image
Select Project from Drop Down
Choose the image you want
Click Select to confirm your boot disk options.
Select Allow HTTP traffic or Allow HTTPS traffic to permit HTTP or HTTPS traffic to the VM. When you select one of these, Compute Engine adds a network tag to your VM, which associates the firewall rule with the VM. Then, the Compute Engine creates the corresponding ingress firewall rule that allows all incoming traffic on tcp:80 (HTTP) or tcp:443 (HTTPS).
The option of Enable Shielded VM: “Shielded VM features, “ is not available for all OS images. If you want to enable it, you to choose image support Shielded VM features. One select OS image support Shielded VM features, you can configure it.
Click the Security tab in the Management, security, disks, networking, sole tenancy section.
To enable Secure Boot, select Turn on Secure Boot. Secure Boot is disabled by default.
To disable vTPM, clear Turn on vTPM. vTPM is enabled by default. Disabling vTPM also disables integrity monitoring because integrity monitoring relies on data gathered by Measured Boot.
To disable integrity monitoring, clear the Turn on Integrity Monitoring checkbox. Integrity monitoring is enabled by default.
Option to add secondary non-boot disks to your VM instance
Click Management, security, disks, networking, sole tenancy.
Select the Disks tab.
Under Additional disks, click Add new disk.
Specify a disk Name, Type, Source Type, Mode, and Deletion rule.
Click Done.
Add additional disks as needed.
Click the Create button to create and start the instance.
