The Dell PowerEdge R530 server is a dual processor system. The CPU socket inside is an LGA2011-3 socket, which means that the R530 utilizes Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 series processors. It is important to note, that to use the v4 processors, you must have an updated BIOS. In general, it is always a good idea to make sure your system up to date, which you can learn how in our Mass Updates video. Below are some of the CPUs that we recommend. This list is not a complete list, but it consists of a handful of great procs within the E5-2600v3 and v4 series.

In this video, we also show you how to remove your old processor and install a new one. It is important to be cautious when removing a CPU and to make sure you do not damage the pins.
