How to Use Luma Mattes in Adobe After Effects | Tutorial
Luma Mattes are excellent ways to create unique overlays in After Effects. The Luma matte "effect" takes the brightest part of your photo or video and cuts it out. Then what remains takes the shape of the video underneath the Layer. Primary Luma mattes are used for compositing video together or for creative transitions.
