Children with dyslexia have less brain activity underlying visual motion in area V5/MT compared to controls of the same age; however, this difference does not emerge when the dyslexics are compared to younger controls, matched on reading ability, and it increases following a reading intervention. We conclude that magnocellular visual system dysfunction is not causal to dyslexia. For more information, see Olulade et al., Neuron 79(1).
