GIANT STEELHEAD RAINBOW TROUT - Boise River, Idaho on the first day of Spring, March 19, 2023.
This monster 31 inch SteelHead Rainbow Trout was caught on the Boise River.
Always Catch & Release.
I used a #26 Dry Fly Hook with Pink, Sparkling Powerbait on 6 pound test line.
I free-lined the bait just below rapids and let the current take it into the eddy below the rapids.
The steel head took the bait and 15 minutes later after a great battle, we managed to finally get it to stay in the net after 4 attempts.
The rest is history.
