How to make your ideas REAL is the topic of this video. Ever feel like you have songs stuck in your head that you can't get out? Good news....your problems are about to be solved! Creativity is actually something you can force at will. Start with a DRONE. A drone is a sustained pitch that reinforces the tonic pitch or key center. Type in "D DRONE" on youtube and you'll get the same drone I used to create my song. Think of a mood, emotion or feeling that inspires you and improvise melodies, riffs and other musical fragments over the drone. Film a video or record an audio file or you may forget it! Next I transcribe what I wrote into guitar pro. This helps me visualize what I've created. I then export a MIDI file from guitar pro that I can use later. Skip this step if you're a beginner or don't have the program. Once you have an idea recorded in lo fi you may want to produce it. You'll need a DAW or digital audio workstation to record your idea with higher quality. I use logic pro. After importing my MIDI file into logic pro, I program what's called BASIC TRACKS, or drums and bass. This gives you a solid foundation to build your song idea on. Then comes our favorite part as guitarists, recording guitar. Playing along to the basic tracks will produce a better performance from you and sound better overall. The last thing you can do if you're interested in getting your music heard by others is record a music video. This is where you play along to the track on camera and bring the music to life. Songs with video components will reach a wider audience and allow the consuming to get to know you better.
