The barbecue has a funky hitbox in Rust simply because it changes when it's opened. This means if you reverse it's placement you can get it a little closer to the wall. You can also place items on the moved hitbox when the lid is open for who knows what reason. Of course you can't put items in them like you used to but I still put one in every base to cook meat more quickly and store food and water underneath it.
