In this video we will go into the origin of the autonomous system. From DARPA to ARPANET to the NSFNET, somehow we have to handle the growing number of nodes and networks connected to the fledgling Internet. Now imagine the Internet not as a big graph of routers and nodes, but as a big graph or connected autonomous systems and you are headed in the right direction. So this first step introduces us to early motivation for the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) but RFCs 827 and 1105. So, sit back and enjoy a little BGP story time.
