Postinor 2 | P2 Pills | Levonorgestrel Tablets – How to take Postinor 2, Side Effects of Postinor 2, Mechanism of Action, Dosage & Warnings
Postinor 2, also known as P2 Pills, contains levonorgestrel, a synthetic hormone used as an emergency contraceptive to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. It works primarily by preventing ovulation and may also prevent fertilization and implantation. The first tablet should be taken as soon as possible within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse, followed by a second tablet 12 hours later. Common side effects include nausea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, breast tenderness, and menstrual changes. Postinor 2 is for emergency use only, not as a regular contraceptive, and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections or terminate an existing pregnancy. Consulting a healthcare provider before use is recommended, especially if there are existing health conditions or other medications involved.
