Mid-19th C Ireland. 11-year-old Anna hasn't eaten for four months. The local elders bring in two observers to monitor the child around the clock: a Catholic nun, and an English nurse (Florence Pugh). The one is minded to believe in a miracle. The other has no doubt there is subterfuge going on. From the director of Gloria and A Fantastic Woman, adapted from the novel by Emma Donoghue (The Room), The Wonder is a probing psychological drama set in the muddy ground between science and faith.
