In the tradition of Koyaanisquatsi, Anthropocene, and Jennifer Peedom's magesterial Mountain, River is a symphonic ode to nature, and a contemplation on how man has explored, coursed, traversed, harnessed, harvested, and come to rely on rivers over millennia. The imagery here is jaw-droppingly spectacular, not just eye-opening but mind's eye-opening. The soundtrack, with music by Richard Tognetti performed by the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and by Jonny Greenwood and Radiohead, is out of this world.
