How to stop speaking in an upwards inflection? If you speak in public and want to sound powerful, end the last syllable of a sentence downwards. This way you can take a pause between sentences. In this pause the audience can see what you just said, and you can see what you are going to say next. Practice this with short sentences: "My name is ↑..(pause)..↓ (NAME)." It helps you to go upwards in tone in the middle of the sentence. This way it is easier to go down in tone at the end of the sentence.
Don't think about this too much when you actually speak in public. Just practice this next to public speaking and you will do it automatically when you are presenting.
