There are two ways of hiding files and folders in android.
Method 1: Create a hidden folder where you will later copy files into to keep them hidden.
To create the hidden folder, follow the steps:1. Open the File Explorer app on your android smartphone. Where there is none, you'll have to download one from Google play store.
2. Select the drive and navigate to the location where you intend to create the hidden folder.
3. Tap on the ellipsis on the top right corner of the screen.
4. Select Create folder.
5. Type desired name for the folder
6. Add a dot (.) before the folder name to make it a hidden folder.
7.Now, transfer all the data to this folder you want to hide.
Method 2: You can as well hide an already existing file/folder manually
This method allows you to hide an already existing folder such as your WhatsApp media folder from showing in the gallery or any other applications that can be used to view files and folders.
Also, to do this, you might need a file manager or file explorer app that allows you to create new files and folders.
To hide an existing folder, follow the steps
1. Open the file manager app on your smartphone.
2. Navigate to the folder holding the file or folder that you want to hide
3. Long press to select the folder and tap on 'Rename' option
4. Now, add a '.' to the beginning of the file name
5. Once done, press OK, and exit the file manager.6. Your folder will be hidden now.
After hiding a folder successfully, I'm sure that you'll still want to have access to the said file or folder.
So, to show hidden files and folders in android;
Go to the file explorer app once again and turn on 'Show hidden files' option or just 'Show' from the 'Settings' or on the available menu options on the App.- Navigate to the folder location to view them- For method 2, you will have to delete the '.' file from the folder name.
