This "Home Lab" rack was designed to perfectly fit one of the cubes of this old, cheap furniture (AKA: Ikea Kallax)! Includes a ton of features all crammed into a tiny package.

Networking - Patch bay, network switch, wireless router
Compute - Mini server for running Home Assistant and Kubernetes
Storage - Two Synology DiskStation NAS devices for keeping all my data safe
Temperature control - Custom smart cooling solution keeps interior of the case at a specific desired temperature
Front peripheral panel - for easy access to USB and HDMI from the mini server
Custom 3D printed design - Using a cube frame designed by me (shared below)

These cube tables (Ikea Kallax) are very popular, and sometimes look nice, but they really aren't very useful for storing things. In this video, I'm fixing that problem by creating a new home for all my servers and storage equipment.

=====================

In the video, I cover the design of the cube mounting system as well as all of the additional mounting parts I created to house all of my equipment.

Finally, I cover the creation of a custom cooling solution using a PC case fan, an ESP32, and a temperature sensor. The cooling solution keeps the heat down and automatically adjusts fan speed based on temperature.

This is what's crammed into the box:
