We are predominantly talking about women here because the bulk of my clients are women. I photograph women of all ages, body types and personalities and my opinion is that all women are beautiful. Almost all of my clients are looking flattering images of themselves. The techniques you will learn in this class will help you to achieve that.
We will give you great tips on posing, creating flattering lighting whether you have studio equipment or not, and relating and reacting to your model to get the best from them.
A great portrait photograph is generally a team effort. If you apply your skills and your model tries her best, the results will be amazing.

Defining beauty: This is tricky. Beauty to me, as a photographer, is an image that my client or model thinks is a very flattering photograph of herself.

To look beautiful your model needs to feel beautiful. She needs to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. You, as the photographer, can assist her in many ways to achieve this.

Prepare and plan
Talk with her about the desired results
Correct make up and make up artist
Take control of the shoot. Confidence
Give her positive feedback
Get some variety in the images. Lighting, posing, outfits
Make it fun for her.
Talk with respect and be polite throughout.

Purpose: To produce a flattering beauty shot that wouldn’t look out of place in a fashion magazine.

There are a few important aspects to producing a flattering photograph.
Face shape, skin texture and expression.

Face shape and skin texture are best achieved with a combination of make up and lighting.
Expression is controlled by the thoughts of the model and seen in her eyes. The best expressions will come if she is relaxed, confident and excited about the session. Her eyes are the key to conveying her expression whether she is looking at the camera or away.
