When first wanting to learn how to code, one of the first steps is to determine which programming language you want to focus on. If you do a simple google search about which programming language to learn first, you will come across many different opinions; is it python? java? JavaScript? C?

Throughout this video, I try to determine what some sources suggest as a beginner programming language as well as give my own personal opinion on which programming language would be good for when.

The evidence for which programming language to learn first can also vary greatly. For example, some sources report popularity of a given programming language based on the number of Git pull requests, whereas others measure popularity based on Google searches. Therefore its important to utilize several sources in order to determine which programming language would fit your needs the best.

As a math and computer science major at UCSD, I also give my opinion on which programming languages have helped me throughout my college classes, and learn more efficiently!

If you are interested in a brief history of programming languages, check out my video essay here:    • The Brief History of Programming Lang...

*Note: In the video I say that Cross Browser Testing suggested Python. I should have been more specific that they highlighted Python as an easy programming language to learn first. They then suggested other languages based on different needs.

Comment down below what programming language you are planning on learning!
