It's been awhile since I made a proper devlog about my indie game Castlemancer!
Life has been pretty hectic, combined with YouTube and my full time job, but I have still really been enjoying learning game development!

I originally thought I'd be able to release a strong demo for the Steam NextFest in October, but as a solo indie game developer, I couldn't make the timeline. First impressions do matter, so I decided to take the time and continue my game dev journey! I also really wanted to highlight some of the best tools that have sped up the process of learning game dev for me!

I feel like I could make 20 devlogs about all the different things that I've changed within the game. The constant iteration of the game design aspect has been quite the learning experience. I also just recently released another devlog about some the major problems I've encountered with learning game development, which you can find above!

For 2024, I'm really eager to get a great demo out for playtesting and start gathering feedback. Honestly, the game development timeline is much longer that I initially anticipated (though I think every beginner game dev feels the same way). Thank you all so much for the support throughout all of my game dev, devlog, and non game dev videos!

Comment below what you thought of the devlog and tips for learning game development!
